Found within the City of Westminster, the Savoy Hotel is certainly one of the iconic landmarks of England.  Perhaps one of the most striking aspects of this location is its history.  The Savoy is considered to the the first luxury hotel in all of Britain.  Such innovations as lifts, electric lights and functioning bathrooms were first introduced here; amazing patrons and employees alike.  Its current history can be traced back to 1889.  Some notable guests include (but are not limited to) Frank Sinatra, George Gershwin, Judy Garland, Bob Dylan and even Winston Churchill himself.  Lets take a closer look at what The Savoy has to offer its patrons.

Accommodations

There are no less than 268 luxury rooms found within the confines of The Savoy.  Most of these are fashioned in an Art Deco style; reflecting the opulence of truly amazing times during the early part of the 20th century.      There are also eight “personality suites” which are said to pay tribute to the famous names who have stayed here over the years.  There are standard rooms as well as suites available.  Of course, the prices will differ between these two.

Restaurants and Bars

The Savoy is also famous for its fine dining and second-to-none social atmosphere.  The Grill Room and the aptly named Savoy Restaurant are the most frequented spots.  The Savoy Restaurants is known for its spectacular views that overlook the nearby River Thames.  Both underwent extensive refurbishments in 2010 to match the Art Deco style of the rooms.  

There are also a number of bars within the hotel and the most well-known is certainly The American Bar.  This was actually the first bar to offer American-style drinks and cuisine to its patrons.  Such a history reflects the unique connection between the United Kingdom and the United States during the final decade of the 19th century.  The Beaufort Bar is another creation borne from the 2010 renovations. Once again, it boasts an Art Deco style and the black-and-gold theme has proved to be a bit with its visitors.

Events

The Savoy is able to accommodate the needs of larger parties.  It is well known for its appeal in regards to corporate gatherings and weddings.  Both small and large ceremonies can be catered to with ease while black-tie events and personalised celebrations are catered to with the same sense of perfection.  Of course, the cuisine here is also spectacular.  One of the major attractions in regards to the chefs here centres around there ability to cater to unique tastes from around the world.  There is also a speciality menu which is updated on a regular basis.  The official website is able to display the most recent dishes as well as the options associated with any event.

The Savoy should never be overlooked during any trip to London (or the United Kingdom as a whole).  Its unique opulence and attention to even the finest of details has allowed the property to certainly represent one of the most sought-after hotels in the world today.
