Seychelles Holidays

The Seychelles is a country and an archipelago found within the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.  Boasting a population of just 92,000 inhabitants and a total area of no more than 459 square kilometres, this is also one of the smallest countries on the planet.  Still, these attributes do not detract from its sheer appeal and the tropical bliss to be found here.  Whether looking for valuable package holidays or the best bargains in terms of cheap flights, there are a few variables to take into account.  Let's examine the Seychelles in a bit more detail.

Airports and Flight Information

The main airport which services Seychelles is Seychelles International Airport (SEZ).  It is found a mere 11 kilometres to the south-east of Victoria (the capital of the island).  Frequent taxi and bus services enable visitors to arrive and depart from this hub with ease.  One interesting feature in regards to this airport is that it is found directly upon the shores of the Indian Ocean; a location not seen in the bulk of airports around the world.  Some of the main airlines which travel to this hub include:

  • Air Seychelles
  • Condor
  • Emirates
  • Qatar Airways
  • Arkia

You will note here that there are no major western carriers.  This signifies that a connecting flight will likely be required.  Also, it may be difficult to encounter last-minute bargains.  It is still a fact that booking in advance will be able to offer a number of cheap flights while package holidays (hotels inclusive) are quite common.

Seychelles Attractions

There are a number of unique attractions to be found here.  A handful of the most amazing are involved with nature.  Of course the beaches here should never be missed.  A few spots that have to be seen to be believed include Anse Georgette, Petite Anse, Bird Island and Beau Vallon.  As there are a number of outlying islands as well, it is always wise to hire local boats for excursions during your stay.  Other interesting locations include Sainte Anne Marine National Park and the Bicentennial Monument.

Hotels

There a number of local hotels for those who are looking for bargains.  Many of thee boutiques can be found on (or close to ) the beach.  Some luxury spots for those with a bit of extra cash are the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, Banyan Tree Seychelles and the Hilton Seychelles.  Most package holidays will offer accommodation within properties that are located in the capital city of Victoria.  This is a great option for those who hope to experience a bit of urban life during their stay.  It is best to visit here between autumn and early spring, for there are less tourists and the rainy season can be avoided.
