Marvellous Magaluf

Marvellous Magaluf: The Holiday of Your Dreams

Magaluf is a small resort located on the Spanish holiday island of Majorca (also spelled Mallorca). This location is particularly known for its package holiday deals and many carriers provide regular flights here throughout the year. Thanks to an amenable climate as well as some truly amazing beaches, countless thousands of tourists partake in the splendours of Magaluf each and every season. Let us take a look at some basic flight information before examining a handful of main attractions as well as the most advantageous times to visit.

Flights to and from Magaluf

The main airport which serves Magaluf (and indeed the entire island of Majorca) is Palma de Majorca International Airport (PMI). Short-haul itineraries from Barcelona and Madrid as well as longer routes from the United Kingdom and Europe are both possibilities. Some of the major carriers include:

  • Vueling
  • Iberia
  • Ryanair
  • Air Europa
  • British Airways
  • Aer Lingus

Non-stop flights will last generally under one hour while those with connections may take between and three and four hours. Please keep in mind that those flying into Barcelona may opt to take an overnight ferry to the island.

Magaluf Attractions

We would be remiss to not mention the wonderful beaches which are found normally only a few metres away from one's hotel room. There are three main spots to visit. These are Playa de Son Matias, Playa Palma Nova and the aptly named Playa de Magaluf. Please keep in mind that these locations can be quite busy. If you wish to enjoy a bit more privacy, a short walk up or down the coastline is wise.

Magaluf is a great spot for the entire family, and this has to do with much more than the beaches alone. Activities such as miniature golf, diving, horseback riding and a theme show known as Pirate's Adventure are some examples here. For those who want to see a bit of nature, it is a good idea to check out the famous Palma Aquarium, Marineland and the mystical Cuevas del Drach (Drach underwater caves). Hiking is also possible within the inland of the island and there are many guided tours available. Finally, Katmandu Park is another location not to be missed; the games and rides here are suited for both children and adults alike.

When to Visit Magaluf

As mentioned previously, the weather here is very agreeable throughout the year. However, there are two variables to take into consideration. First, temperatures can rise well above 40ºC during the peak of the summer. This also happens to be when the bulk of the tourists arrive. If you are adverse to the heat or if you hope to avoid the masses of tourists, it is much better to visit here between the months of September and April. The weather is still amazing and yet, fewer people will be out and about. It is also worthwhile noting that the prices of flights and accommodations are likely to be significantly reduced during the off season.
